Untold Stories
The Full Story
Would you believe if we tell you we live on Christmas Island from the 1958 to 1987 in a community filled with Inter-culturalism?
Our ancestors were from Malaysia, China, Singapore and Cocos Island. The island has been a territory of Australia since 1958 and when we lived on the island, we provided invaluable service to Australia to mine phosphate between the 1958 - 1970s—enabling Australian and New Zealand farmers to grow crops to feed the nation. Despite enduring extreme hardship after resettled in regional towns in the 1970s, our labour and economic contributions helped Western Australia prosper in countless ways. We have our own music and cultural band that came from the island. We hope by exploring our website you will discover our WA community living in Katanning, Port Hedland, Geraldton and Perth metro. We hope to see you in our regional towns.
